Led the design strategy for Skype for six years of releases for consumer and business users across all platforms. Collaborated closely with product and engineering to define vision and delivery, while managing global design teams through major org shifts. During that time the App Store rating climbed from 1.5 to 4.7, NPS steadily improved and usage stabilized in 2024 and started to climb. As of early 2025 Microsoft decommissioned Skype in favor of Teams.

My team envisioned, designed, and shipped multiple brand new Copilot-powered AI experiences in Skype, enhancing communication and creativity across the platform.
This included Copilot integration into 1:1 and group chats, AI image generation experiences. But also real-time voice translation in audio and video calls, using each participant’s actual voice for a more natural, human experience.

The Skype desktop, tablet and mobile call experience was redesigned with a focus on clarity, delight, and inclusivity.
Simplified call controls were introduced as well as refined layout options for a more engaging call stage.
Distinctive visual treatments were added for audio-only participants—bringing a cohesive and modern feel to every conversation.

As part of that we delivered a modernized Skype's design system and established a seamless pipeline from Figma design tokens to production code together with engineering partners. This improved design-to-dev velocity as well as consistency across platforms.
We introduced theming capabilities and cross-platform alignment to support brand flexibility and engineering efficiency. In parallel, we designed and implemented accessibility improvements across core surface, ensuring compliance and a more inclusive experience for millions of Skype users globally.
