Teams Small Business
I designed key product areas for Teams small and medium business: Onboarding, Admin, and Google Workspace integration in close collaboration with product leadership to shape strategic direction. Onboarding concepts were validated in partnership with user research to ensure solutions met user needs. Resulting in new Admin and Google Add-on features the spring 2025 release, as well as creation of a design framework for AI-powered onboarding in Teams, validated with postive user feedback.

The Teams add-on for Google Workspace enables users to add and join Teams meetings directly from their Google Calendar.
Designs for this experience included upsell banners to educate users about Teams value combined with Google Workspace, as well as an experience to request feedback and submit a Google store rating.

Onboarding to Teams as a new user can be quite overwhelming. User often don’t quite know how to get started and usually don’t have an understanding of the full value it can bring to their business beyond basic messaging and meetings.
Concepts are confidential and cannot be shared online at this moment. The design solution was a framework powered by AI, which progressively guides the user throughout their onboarding over time, teaches them of the value of the product and new features and also serves as support.
Usability studies were conducted to gauge user feedback and prioritize onboarding focus areas with a card sorting exercise. Initial user testing results proved very positive.

As part of the Admin app in Teams, admins can setup a connection to Google Workspace to enable calendar sync for all users.
Imported Google users are automatically ‘matched’ to Teams users and in this newly designed experience admins in larger organizations now have the option to import and match users using CSV file.
